Operation Write Home is a wonderful organization that supports our military (and their family and friends) by providing hope and encouragement in the form of some beautiful handmade cards (for our troops to send back home) as well as by sending Any Hero mail to those men and women who might need some love from home. They also host an annual blog hop each year and you get to join in the fun!

2013's Blog Hop will focus on sketches again and also the theme is Thank You. We really want to up the ante on Any Hero cards, so that's what I am focusing on this weekend.
It's late here and I was short on time due to celebrating another victory in our lives (congrats niece Britt on your graduation!) and so I made a simple Any Hero card to go in the next package. It needs some punching up and I'll play with it some more and update when I can, but don't want to miss out on the fun, so here you go!
This card is based on the OWH sketch #32 and I used Bazill Moody Blue for the base, and top layer and Bazill Peanut Cluster for the image, middle layer and sentiment layer. Inks are SU! Night of Navy and Real Red. The stamped images are from Stampin' Up! (some older sets) and the patterned paper is from Authentique (Pride collection). Technique, simply used DTP for the edges since the dotted paper looked "smudged" too. ~~ I need to go in and touch up the sentiment and I'm considering changing out that eyelet for a smaller bronzed star brad. Hmm....
As I said, this is a cute but hurried card that needs a little love and I'll be posting more throughout the weekend if you happen to make it through the rest of the blogs and want to come back and visit. Again, you can reach those wonderful sites by starting right HERE.
Also, don't forget to sign up for your chance to win a 6x6 pad of Lost & Found from me! Go HERE for the information!
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and don't forget to thank a hero for their service!
Hugs,

ReplyDeleteThose teddy bears are just too darn cute - love how you only added touches of color to it to really draw the eye in. Thank you for sharing this adorable card & for your support of our heroes and OWH.
ReplyDeleteI like your card just the way it is even though you did hurry. I'd say it needs a "Now and Forever" inside. I used that same stamp with a different sketch. It's one of my favorite bear stamps. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card! Love the image and the selective coloring!
ReplyDeleteI love the little bears in the wagon...and the subtle pop of color on them instead of filling them in has such a sweet effect. Nice work.

ReplyDeleteFun card! Such cute bears, and I love your smudges in the image panel to go with the patterned paper. It would be interesting to see if you try that different brad with the flag. Sometimes such a tiny change will have a big effect overall. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteUn-bear-ably cute!!! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAdorable and festive card that anyone would love!
ReplyDeleteI love your little teddy bears in their wagon. Looks like they're headed to a parade! Your coloring on the bears made a nice focal point for the card. Thank you for sharing your card with us! ~ Marilyn
ReplyDeleteSo I just read your previous post and as to what I would write inside this card...How about, We are unbearably proud of you and want to send a Parade of thanks to let you know how much we appreciate all you have done for our country"!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Love how you colored just a bit of the image! :)
ReplyDeleteI like that background paper
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card. I love the patriotic DSP you used.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
M.E.
The bears in the wagon remind me of the wood burning I did for my granddaughters 1st Christmas. Mine only had one bear. So cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable image!
ReplyDeleteThe bears in the wagon are soooo darned cute. Love the paper, the sentiment and the layering. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCute cute! Love the bears with their flag!
ReplyDeleteThese little guys r Supercute and I can't wait to see what else u do with this card! TFS and thanks for the giveaway You rock!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable card. I love the image. It is just too cute. The papers are also so neat and work so well with the image. What would I write inside. Well. Since it is for A hero. I would have to say Thank you for all that you do and all that you have done. thanks for joining in the hop.
ReplyDeleteYour patriotic bears cards are darling. Thanks for supporting OWH!
ReplyDeleteI just knew that was an older SU! stamp. I have a few older bears, too. The card is great & I think replacing the eyelet would make a difference. I suggest a wide ribbon tied with a square knot under the small panel to break up the pattern some more. Great card and I also liked the next card you posted, too!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing, finish a card then look at it and try to decide what else it needs, surprise myself when I leave it on my stamp table for a few days, come back to it, and 'snap' think of just what finishing touch the card needs! :-)

Cute card! LOVE the bears!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! It was late and I was hurried, I've been coloring bears for two days now and think I have it. Third time's a charm, right? LOL. Look for the updated version tonight or tomorrow. And look for the drawing winner tomorrow! We have enough for TWO WINNERS!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card!!
ReplyDeleteLove the image with the bears - the sparing use of coloring really sets it off!

The bear image is adorable! I think I just might need it. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your style! Thanks for sharing!

OH my gosh...I LOVE the bears...they are just too stinking cute! I wouldn't use this for an any hero card...I would send it blank so a soldier could send it back to his son back home who is the "man of the house" while he's gone. Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win your blog candy.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that I signed up for emails!! Thank you again.
DeleteOh what fun and so very cute.
ReplyDeleteIt might be after the weekend here in the UK, but I just wanted to support such a good cause.
"Like the ivy and the wall, together we stand united we fall"
Awwwww. Those bears are so cute. Thanks for supporting OWH.
ReplyDeleteThe little bears are darling! I like the musical score print behind the image panel. I think the yellow star looks all right, but I do have to agree with you that a metallic brad may coordinate better with the rest of the card. I wouldn't rework the card just for that, though.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love the flower embellishment on the flag :) I would definitely use this card to write an AnyHero card, and I would tell them how much I appreciate all that they've given up so that I can enjoy what I have!
ReplyDeleteI really like the happy, celebratory look to your card with the bears in a wagon. Cute!!
ReplyDeleteSince this is a card to a hero, I would write on the inside:
(FRONT: You're my hero!)
INSIDE: "So we made a little bear-icade of happiness for you!"
This sentiment would remind the hero that he/she is not alone and that thought might bring some protection from loneliness and homesickness....like a barricade provides protection.
Love the dotty paper and the bears image is so sweet! Great card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! I love the sweet bears and the vintage feel!
